R. Andrew Boren, O.D.
Dr. Boren was selected as the Young Optometrist of the Year for the State of Nevada for 2001.
A former physics and chemistry teacher, Dr. Boren is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and a past president of the Northern Nevada Optometric Society. He is active in the Lions Club and donates his services to many charitable and service organizations. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his two sons. |
Mariah Smith, O.D.
Dr. Mariah Smith is a Reno native, having attended Little Flower Elementary and Bishop Manogue High School. She went on to graduate Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Business Administration and biology minor from the University of San Diego. In 2012, she earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (now named the Marshall B. Ketchum University) in Fullerton.
Dr. Smith is currently a member of the Nevada Optometric Association. In her spare time she volunteers as an adviser for the local chapter of her sorority, and as a 'Wish Grantor' for the Northern Nevada Make-A-Wish branch. She also is providing education on vision and eye health to Lions Club chapters, as well as other local groups. On the weekends, Dr. Smith can be found on Mt. Rose skiing, participating in the 5Ks around town, or floating down the Truckee River. |
C. Annie Solberg, O.D.
Dr. C. Annie Solberg grew up in Incline Village, Nevada, in beautiful Lake Tahoe. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts. She then moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Pacific University College of Optometry, graduating in 1999 with a Doctor Of Optometry degree. Dr. Solberg then worked in the Portland area as an associate in private practice. She performed comprehensive vision exams on adults and children and participated as a clinician in a major FDA contact lens study. In 2002, Dr. Solberg was named an Assistant Adjunct Clinical Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry.
In 2003, Dr. Solberg moved back to Reno with her husband and son and continued working in private practice until 2016. At that time she joined a leading surgical center as an independent practitioner performing pre-operative and post-operative exams on cataract and refractive surgery patients. In 2018, Dr. Solberg returned to private practice at Reno Family Eye Care, bringing nearly 20 years of Optometry experience with her. |
Kallie Kappes, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Kappes, or "Dr. K" as per patients call her, is a Nevada native, having grown up in Elko. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from the Marshall B. Ketchum University's Southern California College of Optometry. She furthered her education with a residency in Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery at Eye Care Associates of Nevada.
Dr. Kappes is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the Nevada Optometric Association. She is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. In 2019, she was earned her Nevada Glaucoma Certification. Dr. Kappes is available for comprehensive examinations, as well as glaucoma evaluation and treatment, pediatric eye examination, and specialty contact lens fits. She has a particular passion for the management of dry eye symptoms. |
